Are you afraid of having plastic surgery?
What are you afraid of? Feeling pain, the hospital stay, the results or the anesthesia? We have always listened to our patients in these 20 years of the Clinic working with Plastic surgery in Rio de Janeiro (brazil), and were able to develop protocols for each one of the most common reasons for skepticism.
After all, if you are thinking of having some procedure done, it’s because theres something bothering you, right?

Like everything in life, it’s common to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of every act or choice we make. This text aims at giving you precise and up-to-date information for you to make your choice based on real protocols that have worked very well for many years.
Are you afraid of feeling pain?
Our patients do not experience pain, and that’s a fact. No matter how much some friend of yours has said that she has already had Lipo or Breast Implants done and that it hurt, please excuse me but she has not undergone surgery with our team.
There are several techniques to avoid pain and one of them is the use of anesthetics on the location of the surgery. Thus, when a procedure ends, the pain impulse will not travel up to the brain.
The brain will register that the procedure was painless. So much so that our patients take light anti-inflammatory and analgesics.
We never use Tramadol or Codeine with our patients. At most, our they refer to a pressure or slight discomfort for a few days, without ever using the word pain.
Scared of the outcomes?
The Medicine Council prohibits the exhibition of before-and-after photos on the Internet, but we we will most certainly show you several photos of operated cases at your appointment. We can also prepare a video with real cases for you to analyze the aesthetic outcomes and the healing quality.
We are a Reference Center in Plastic Surgery and receive patients from all over Brazil and abroad. Read the more than 100 favorable comments we have received on Google, which will help you decide.
Afraid of General Anesthesia?
This is very common and that’s why we rarely use this type of anesthesia. On the day of the surgery, the entire medical team will go buy your room to talk with you and your family, do some pre-op markings, and then we will give you a Dormonid pill.
You will fall asleep still in your room and won’t see when you go to the operating room. At the end of the procedure we will wake you smoothly and you won’t even feel like you have gone through the OR.
How is your healing?
In the first appointment, we always ask about your healing process, especially if you have undergone any surgery before. The outcomes are fantastic and we obtain a very thin scar in 95% of our patients.
Our fine-healing protocol includes the following steps:
- Multiple layer suture so there is no tension on the skin
- Use of barbed sutures to keep the scar thin
- Laser/LED in the first 24 hours
- Surgical tape for 30 days
- Early physiotherapy so there is less swelling (this may widen the scar)
- Silicone tape for 60 days
Additionally, there will be frequent consultations with Dr. Alexandre so he can supervise your recovery and healing. If you are not from Brazil, we will do this with photos and video calls.
How long will it take to return to your activities?
It depends on the plastic surgery and the protocols we will use. The surgery with the fastest recovery is Breast Augmentation with Implants. You will already be able to raise your arms on the same day and will resume exercises in 3 days.
For other surgeries, such as Blepharoplasty, the return to daily activities takes 7 days.
For larger or double procedures we can consider the recovery to take 4 weeks. In other words, we are able to greatly shorten the time you will stay home. The fact of the matter is that we joined all previous protocols, which accelerated our patients’ recovery. You no longer have to stay 2 months at home doing nothing.
What to expect from the Post-Op?
We use a large, very modern and safe hospital in Rio de Janeiro. For surgeries like Breast Implants, Otoplasty and Blepharoplasty, you will be discharged from the hospital on the same day. For Mastopexy, Abdominoplasty, HD Lipo and Face Lifts, the hospital stay will be of 24 hours. For double procedures or for patients from abroad, we can think about 48 hours in the hospital.
Plastic surgeries are always done on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. All our patients receive physiotherapy still in the hospital (it’s part of our fast-track recovery protocol).
Friday is the day for all patients to return to the doctor’s office for the first revision. Remember: we will follow you closely.

Information is essential to decide
The important point here is that people spend years suffering with something that bothers them aesthetically and afraid to have plastic surgeries. At the appointment, they receive precise instructions about our protocols, after which they will have enough information to make a decision.
This is one of the doctors’ great functions: to inform!
In just a short week you can be admitted to the hospital, solve your aesthetic problem, receive a series of protocols for a good recovery and on Friday we will see you free from that aesthetic burden that bothered you so much.
